About Me
Born in Siberia and artistically formed in Ukraine, Vitaliy Belyayev is a Canadian-based artist whose practice bridges engineering, design, stage art, and contemporary painting.
He studied engineering and design in Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine, developing a lasting
sensitivity to structure, geometry, material, and constructed form. His experience as a stage designer further shaped his fascination with illusion, visual transformation, and the creation of alternative realities.
Practice
Belyayev’s practice combines technical discipline with theatrical illusion and visual transformation. His paintings use constructed objects, recognizable symbols, and shifts in scale or reality to create images that sit between the believable and the impossible.
Today, Belyayev’s paintings move between the tangible and the imagined, transforming familiar forms into enigmatic visual narratives. After years of developing his work outside the exhibition circuit, he is now bringing his practice into the contemporary art world—where technical discipline becomes a language for imagination.
